Technology solution...
We have to peel a few apples. There are six 20ft trees and all seem to have a bumper crop after we pruned them hard last year.
I'm the picker, cook and bottler, hubby is the peeler - hideous job! On Sunday, armed with a hand peeler and a lethal gadget from Ikea.........,
....... he watched the Grand Prix on TV, busy about his job.
'I can't stand it.' He announced. 'There must be a better way to do this job! I need a technological solution!'
I left him surfing the net while I picked yet more apples....
Later he was smug.
'I've ordered a gadget,' he smiled.
It's not my idea of a technological revolution, but hey-ho if it keeps him happy!
Here's our first Larches Apple Sauce...

We have a small orchard too and I'm up to my eyeballs in apples. Not only that, my neighbour's tree was so heavy with fruit that a huge branch broke so she left me a washing basket full of cookers too. I keep looking at the piles of apples and the thought of peeling them gives me the horrors. Shall investigate husband's gadget.
ReplyDeleteYum! Don't forget the apple pie, apple cake, apple crisp, apple muffins, fried apples rolled in powdered sugar/cinnamon, etc.
ReplyDeleteOh, the gadgets. Don't you just love them.
ReplyDeleteAh, the peeling of the apples... who in the world likes that messy, thankless job! same with potatoes, ugh!
ReplyDeleteBut the results are worth it.
Tomorrow I'm making an apple crumble but dread peeling the pommes, ick!
Took one look at my bag of apples from in-laws, roller-flex of options flicked through my head and decided that crumble (easier than pie) with UNPEELED apples was order of the day. It was fabulous. Never peeling apples again me.
