I don't want my Birthday present!

The cats were annoying me this evening. They kept jumping up onto the dresser and knocking down my Birthday cards. Fun game for them maybe, not so for me.

At least it made me look closer at the lovely cards sent, displayed proudly in front of our lovely fishy Jersey Pottery.

I picked up this card and that one, reading the kind words as the children ate supper. It was the epitome of a Victorian scene: An old fashioned tea and a roaring fire, except for the fact that it was home-made lasagne and salad and I wasn't wearing a long gown or reading by candlelight..... hmnnn...... Good bloody job really, otherwise I might not have seen the kindly gift deposited near my crockery. [Bottom shelf on the left.]

By the look of things, (the ring of log burner dust around him) the gift had been there all weekend. (Sorry dear guest!)

Revolting. I'm moving to the city..... without the cats!

  2. One of my cats in France bought me an effing great rat on Mother's Day. Even threw it up on the bed for good measure. At least it's a whole mouse and not just body parts, be grateful girl! Oh, and Happy Birthday! xx

Wyle: Rats are so.... ratty. Urgh, Benny brought a HUGE one in the other day, dead, thank goodness. But it was so big it dragged on the floor as he carried it in. Surprised he got it through the cat flap.

  6. I once shared a house with two siamese cats. They licked any food that was left out (nice tongue marks in the marg), spent the summer killing and squashing frogs which then baked 'til crispy on the patio, and when a friend came to stay they crapped in his sleeping bag.

That's why we have a dog.

  7. We had 2 - especially brought into the house to combat the mice. We never saw so many mice until we had the damned cats!

Unfortunately, we are also surrounded by rabbits.

The last unwanted present we were given did it for the last cat. (The nice dopey one had used up all his 9 lives already in a very short space of time). The still bleeding headless rabbit on the bathroom floor suddenly had her spirited away by the fairies when the children were out that very day. They left a nice note tho'.

But we are still overrun with the blinkin' mice. Rats outside. Mice in. Apparently mice and rats never co-habit. So we'll stick with the mice thanks.

  8. Technodoll: Our cats are cute/useful and revolting all at the same time!

Young at Heart: How quaint, hope you held your skirts and screamed. At least it wasn't decapitated and inside out like most of our mice!

Big Mamma Frog: That made me guffaww - A LOT!

MadameSmokinGun: What amazesme is when the kitties bring in a rabbit, usually a big one in winter, they seem to eat everything: Fur, bones EVERYTHING. The only thing left is a plie of offal. Delightful to come down to the kitchen some mornings.
