Home grown display...

I've never been one for cut flowers. Don't get me wrong, I love receiving flowers and the idea of owning a business like Common Farm Flowers is positively dreamy but I always felt a little sad that flowers had been picked for me, concerned that they'd been murdered.

Now I'm growing my own it doesn't feel like murder, more like ..... pruning. Bonkers, I know.

How about this; Sweet Rocket (Hesperis matronalis) with seeding parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) . Home grown flower display. Honest, I can't stop looking at it.

  1. You'd be hard pressed to find anything more stunning than that. I like to leave my flowers outside, and intact, as the display lasts so much longer. However, I really enjoy cutting flowers to give pleasure to friends and neighbors. I just brought in some gladioli that had bent over in yesterdays wind. That's O.k. with me.

  2. Stunning - like you say - and they need to be pruned to allow them to continue growing.... what pleasure they bring when they have been picked.

    enjoy them

  3. They are glorious! And you're doing the plant a service by pruning. It's very eco-friendly and helping the earth. ;-) Enjoy.
