Sigh....

...Found her.

She was hunkered down in the grass near a holly bush. Good job it was warm last night because she is one of the raggiest new hens. She needs to re-grow her feathers, especially across her neck and chest. She is also the bravest of the 6, having ventured the furthest yesterday under my watchful eye.

She didn't even flinch when I bent down and picked her up. I think she wanted to be rescued.

Phew! Phew! Phew! We are complete again.

Might have a nap today after my chores....

Off to wake babies for school run. Have a good day.

  1. Thank goodness! I didn't want to hear you found a foot and a feather! I kind of like chickens. I don't even eat them, so I just appreciate them as beings.

    What an effing hippy! :)

Plus I like eggs a lot...

  2. It sounds as if the chickens can be more work than the kids, lol. I hope things settle down among them soon, for your sake. :)

  3. I'm sure the shadow you cast over her, as you found her was a heavenly light in her mind!
Yes indeed she saw a white robe and heavenly light emanating from behind you. The soundtrack? the sound of nature itself..

Now your back in egg business and insect control!

  5. James: Horay indeed!

Brenda: True but they don't tend to cheek you as often.

Smiffy: Can't believe it. She's a real sweetie too, keeps running to me like her long lost mummy. (Am I that fluffy bottomed?)

  8. Whew! I was expecting to hear about a scattering of feathers this morning! I thnk she had a bit of shock staying out all night and was very happy to see you. Maybe she be a little calmer now and get back to some serious egg laying business.

  10. Those eggs better be worth it! They'd better give you some double yokers for all your efforts I'd say. Have you let the Bitchy Chicks out of the cat box yet? You see? I'm hooked on your Soap Opera! Kind of calms my troubled mind..........

  11. Whew! Such drama. My nerves were shot reading the last two posts!! Funny how little creatures can get their way into your heart (and drive you mad). Glad they're all safe and you are relatively unscathed. Love the new design BTW.

  12. MadameSmokinGun: I was patently aware that I hadn't mentioned that I stuck the blondes back in the coop later.... D'ya know? Sometimes the 'thought police' read this blog! I'll probably be reported to the RSPB, or YMCA or TTFN...
.... Livin' on the wild-side me!

  13. 'Cross the Pond: Thanks, the new design is rather nifty although it does seem to have a few teething problems...

My chicken soap opera is doing me in but the kids break up tomorrow for 9 weeks, so I'll have help herding till the wee hours!

    xx
