Also considering a name change....

Soon (in about 10 days) the 5yo will be the 6yo....... god it's getting a bit confusing over here!

However this morning the boy informed me that he hates his name..... It's an unusual name with some W's in it. Apparently his peers are having some difficulty with the pronunciation of their W's and so boy feels he is being teased.

'It's a stupid name and I want to change it to something better,' he said.

'Oh dear,' said I, trying not to laugh. 'I chose that name especially for you, but if you really don't like it then I'm sure we could call you something else.....'

'Good,' he said 'I want to be called Fizzy-Whizzy....'

Lord love a duck! I PROMISE I kept my face straight. These are vulnerable times!

  1. Oh little Fizzy Whizzy!! Actually it's not too bad, my cousin has been called Whizz since he was about 5, he's now in his late 20s.

Hey good luck with your novel in a month!! A friend of mine is doing it too, it's such a wonderful concept. (Am toying with idea of giving it a try but have to account for my limitations.)

  3. Adorable pic! And I can so relate to his request! I wanted so badly to change my name to Joan (don't ask me why) because I hated that my name (Elizabeth) was too long. The things that go through kids' minds...

  4. Are you going to start calling him Fizzy Whizzy and see if he responds? Don't you just love 'em.

  5. This Mid 30's Life: I'm really looking forward to the writing yet terrified at the same time.

Liz Fichera: Joan is cool but Liz is better.. I changed my name from Louise to Susan briefly then to Louize!!! Lou is so much easier.

Victoria: Have called him Fizzy Whizzy several times tonight, he blushes and grins. I can't work out if that's a good thing or a bad thing. But he is cute.

  6. I think it's a FABULOUS name for a six year old. Doubt he'll want it once he hits puberty!

  7. What a handsome fella - he'll weather the 'name' years just fine, even as Fizzy Whizzy. x

  10. At the age of 7 DS announced that henceforth he wished to be called Gary. Don't ask me why, we knew no-one of that name. Fortunately it only lasted a few weeks. Fast forward a year and he is living in France with an Irish name, spelled the traditional way, that no-one, but no-one every quite mastered in the five years we lived there. He wished he's stuck at Gary!

  12. I think Fizzy-Whizzy is a perfectly brilliant name. My name, by the way, is Bumble, so I understand!

  13. Why...! He looks like a miniature of the dashing Peter O'Toole the younger from Lawrence of Arabia!

  14. 'Cross the Pond: He's already lost interest I'm pleased to say.

Maxabella: He is handsome isn't he. He does a brilliant American accent, maybe he be an AcTOR.

James: I think I need a tattersall vest it's getting decidedly parky 'round here.

TheMadHouse: Dave...hmmmm... after Mr Cameron prehaps?

Previously (Very) Lost in France: Gary, I think not! Irish names are the best, my sisters child has an unspellable name. Fab (that's not the name btw cos I can spell Fab... F.A.B)

Technodoll: Wipe your nose immediately! Very difficult not to react EVERY.SINGLE.DAY may I tell you. May have chicks hatching this weekend, 1st time ever. A battery hen went broody. Nature is sooo coool.

Miss Whistle: Bumble that is really cute, may have to use that name in my novel. Lovely.

natural selection: Peter O'Bloody Toole yes I can see that! He is a babe magnet already! Now you've mentioned the babe magnet I've decided to cut his curls off and get him contact lenses. That should fool 'em.

I took a look at your brisket (sorry to sound so familiar) and WOW-WEEE was that lush-looking! I'm off to book a plane ticket, will it stay warm in a low oven?
